Major events and activities organised by Huazong
1. Huazong has visited Ministers of various Ministries and discussed the views of the Chinese Community with the respective Ministries, and to reflect the common aspirations of the Chinese Community timely.
2. We are willing to act as a communicator between the Government and Chinese Community
a)Huazong has regular dialogues with Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA), The Associated Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industries of Malaysia (ACCCIM), Dong Jiao Zong and Malaysia Seven Major Clans Association.
b)The National SMI Consultative Centre was jointly set up by Huazong together with MCA, ACCCIM and SMI Malaysia.
c)Huazong has jointly set up national committee on “Respect Our Teachers Campaign” together with MCA & ACCCIM.
3. “Malaysia Chinese Cultural Festival” is an annual event organised by Huazong in corporation with 13 Chinese Assembly Halls since 1984. In 1993 and 1995 the then Honorable Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir was the guest of honour officiating the opening ceremony of the “10th Malaysia Cultural Festival”in Alor Setar and the “12th Malaysia Chinese Cultural Festival” in Kota Kinabalu respectively.
The“18th Malaysia Chinese Cultural Festival” held in Sibu, Sarawak in 2001, the “20th Malaysia Chinese Cultural Festival” held in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan and the “24th Malaysia Chinese Cultural Festival” held in Kuala Lumpur were officiated by the then Honorable Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Badawi.
We also have the honour to invite our Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Sri Najib Tun Razak to officiate the “26th Malaysia Chinese Cultural Festival” held in Sibu Sarawak in 2009.
4. Huazong published the guidelines and suggestions on cultural activities for Chinese associations in 1997 and also the views on innovations and reforms in Malaysian Chinese community in 1998.
5. Huazong has set up several cultural funds to sponsor various cultural projects.
6. Huazong has set up various education funds and provided study loans as well as scholarships amounting to about RM6 million for 600 undergraduates and about 1634 primary & secondary students. In addition, Huazong has donated 1329 units of new computers to more than 300 Chinese primary schools throughout the country since 1998. Huazong has also organised computer training courses for more than 1000 Chinese primary school teachers.
