Huazong expresses full faith in Agong’s wisdom in handling political turmoil
Tan Sri T.C Goh, President of The Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia (Huazong) has urged all quarters, including Chinese community and organisations, to remain calm and be rational amidst the current political situation.
He especially called on politicians from both sides of the divide to refrain from engaging in unnecessary political fights amidst worsening Covid-19 pandemic, instead to better focus on national interest, to stimulate economic recovery and the people’s wellbeing.
He urged this while commenting on the news report that, Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah will discuss with the other Malay rulers on the suggestions he received from the Cabinet on Friday, which among others include a proclamation of emergency.
In a response issued today, Goh who is also the President of The Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia (Huazong) asserted that, whatever decisions there are going to be, it must be based on the three key principles namely national interests, wishes of the people, and democratic principles.
He believes Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah who is popularly known to be an affectionate King, would make decisions which are wise and in the best interest of the people.
Goh also welcomed and supported Sultan Abdullah’s acknowledgement and emphasis on the need for the government to better focus on fighting the pandemic without being distracted by unnecessary politicking.
“His Majesty Sultan Abdullah also urged Malaysians to be more disciplined, and to strictly abide by the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) issued by the relevant authorities, so as to better contain the worsening Covid-19 outbreak in the country,” he said.
He added that His Majesty’s love and care for the people and the nation was clearly reflected in a series of Royal statements issued by Comptroller of the Royal Household Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin, in regards to the pandemic and political situation, calling on the people to continue to remain united in fighting the pandemic.
